IE7 runonce page keeps running
Q. I have installed Internet Explorer 7 and now the runonce set up page is the page that loads when it starts, not my home page. To get my home page I must click the icon! How can I get IE7 to go directly to my home page?
A. This seems to be a rather common bug in IE7 that affects a number of users who are upgrading.
The quickest and most direct fix I have found involves using the
Group Policy Editor.
While this may sound complicated, it's not. In fact, it's remarkably easy.
Click on Start then Run and type gpedit.msc in the run box and hit enter. This will bring up the GPE.
In the left pane of the window that pops up double click on Administrative Templates, Windows Components and finally Internet Explorer.
Look in the right window pane and find Prevent performance of First Run Customize settings and double click it. Change the setting to Enabled and chose Go directly to home page from the drop down window next to "Select your choice."
Click OK and once you restart Internet Explorer, it should take you directly to your home page.
