stuurprogramma voor externe harde schijf wordt niet gevonden

Ik heb een lastig probleem.
ik heb een externe harde schijf van Western Digitals type WD Elemenst WD5000E035-00.
als ik deze op de usb poort aansluit wordt hij niet herkent en ik krijg de volgende mededeling:
Nieuwe hardware gevonden.
het stuurprogramma voor uw onbekend apparaat moet worden geïnstalleerd.

als ik dan op stuurprogramma zoeken klik komt hij zeggen dat het niet kan worden gevonden.

ik heb alle usb poorten getest en werken allemaal.

weet iemand raad????

Welk besturingssysteem gebruik jij?
Windwows XP, Vista en Win7 zouden deze toch automatisch moeten herkennen;

Solution:
Below you will find some things that can prevent the drivers from installing. Please follow the suggestions to correct whatever may be hindering the drive from being recognized and the drivers from being installed.

• Turn off computer. Disconnect all cables from the back of the external drive. Plug the drive's power adapter directly into an electrical wall outlet. Turn on the computer and let it fully load Windows. If the external drive has a power button, turn the drive on. Wait a few seconds, and connect the data cable (USB or Firewire only) directly to the computer. Do not use a USB/Firewire hub or other device.
• It is also possible that you may have a bad data cable. Replace the data cable to see if that causes the drive to be recognized and the drivers to load.
• If the drive is still unrecognized, you may want to connect it to other computers to make sure that the drive is functioning correctly. If the external drive isn't recognized on other computers, please return the drive. It is most likely damaged. If the drive is recognized on other computers, then you know for sure that there is something preventing the drivers from being loaded on your computer.
• If the drive is recognized on other computers, but not yours, then it is recommended that you get the latest driver updates from your computer or motherboard manufacturer. You may be using generic or out-of-date drivers. It is also recommended that you update your BIOS to the latest version.
• A further step in updating the USB or Firewire drivers is to make sure that you have the latest Windows updates and service packs. You will want to also search for any hotfixes associated with your USB or Firewire ports. Hotfixes are not automatically downloaded. You will need to search them out at Microsoft Support, based on the operating system you are using.
