I want to extend my network for an upcoming event.
This is an external event and we receive at one place internet (trough a 100m cable).
This cable is connected to the WAN-port of the first router.
We connect to the first router with cable and wireless.
This setup has been working fine.
What I want to do now is extend the network.
The first and second router are both of Dlink DI-624+ (wireless and cable).
I’ve bought a new cable of 50m where the second router must be set.
The second router must also function with cable and wireless…
Does anybody know how to configure this setup?

Setup with one router was as follows:
Router IP 10.0.0.10, DHCP server enabled, range 10.0.0.100 – 10.0.0.199

Is it possible that the second router is also a DHCP server? (for example with range 200- 249)
What should be the IP-address of the second router?
All computers must be in the same network, so all computers can connect to eachother and go to the internet.

First of all I want to mention that this is a Dutch forum, so if it possible use the Dutch language ;)

Concerning your question. Easiest setup is just to connect one of the 4 lan ports of the second router to one of the four lan ports of the first one. This way, only the switch function of the second router is used. By connecting the cable at the lan port of the second router, you lose one cable connection but still have the 3 others left and the wireless connections ;)

wat zijn dan de instellingen van mijn tweede router?
ik vermoed dat hier de DHCP moet uitgeschakkeld zijn...
wat met de tweede router zijn IP?
moet dit een waarde bevatten uit de eerste router zijn range?

of gewoon een IP in 't zelfde subnet?


werkt de wireless functie dan nog van de tweede router?
want dit zou ook 't liefst zo moeten zijn... zodat de range van het wireless network wordt vergroot...

Normaal maken de instellingen van de router niks uit. Het is slechts de switch functie die je gebruikt van het apparaat. Alles zal dus lopen over de instellingen van de eerste router. Zelf kan ik het hier niet testen... Laat iets weten als het niet werkt ;)
